When it comes to manufacturing paper and packing products, dust is inevitable. While machine operators work to produce paper products, equipment like corrugators generates high volumes of paper waste, trim, and dust. Paper dust is easily transmittable and can make its way through an entire facility settling on equipment, work surfaces, and flooring. Paper dust is also combustible making it highly dangerous if uncontrolled.
Combustible dust requires specialized dust collection and ducting systems to ensure work environments remain safe and in compliance. When pressure build-up is confined inside of a building, it can easily initiate an explosion. A deflagration can result in disastrous property damage, severe personal injuries, and possible death.
Several NFPA standards require that dust collectors have a way to stop the transmission of energy from an explosion to a building. To prevent paper dust explosions, dust collection systems must be equipped with the proper ductwork and high-speed abort gates or NFPA explosion isolation valves.
To accommodate paper and product packing dust applications, we carry BOSS explosion isolation valves and high-speed abort gates.
Explosion isolation devices are required on all suction side ducts that transport material with a Kst value above zero. BOSS no return valves are ATEX certified and protect businesses from the detrimental effects of deflagration or explosion.
The EcoMAXX high-speed abort gate is an NFPA required safety device that prevents hazardous air from returning into buildings by auto-venting dangerous gases to the atmosphere, should deflagration or explosion occur.
