Textile Dust Ducting
Textile and nonwoven industries are at higher risk of fire and explosion because of the flammable materials used and combustible dust that is present. When textile dust is disturbed, it settles and collects on surfaces and fixtures making it difficult to control without a ducting system. Because the textile industry is listed as susceptible to explosive dust by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), it requires deflagration protection to mitigate combustible dust risks.
Raw cotton and wool are known to produce explosive dust that can quickly accumulate in the workspace - presenting severe injury risks and equipment damage. Textile dust ducting must include dampers or explosion isolation valves to minimize the risk of deflagration.
